Back in the Prohibition era, the George T. Stagg Distillery frequently produced and bottled whiskey labels—Walnut Hill among them—for other companies. Historical records indicate that Albert Blanton, then serving as the distillery’s president (and later the namesake of the world’s first single barrel bourbon), personally oversaw the making of Walnut Hill. Letters exchanged between Blanton and the U.S. Patent Office in December 1932 reveal his direct involvement in managing the brand’s bottling process.
