Buffalo Trace Distillery has introduced a complimentary offsite parking and shuttle service in Frankfort, Kentucky, giving visitors another transportation option as the distillery prepares for a busy fall season.
The service is currently scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, but Buffalo Trace Daily expects it could continue into November, when the distillery hosts its sold-out Weller Experience: Generations in the Making from November 9–15.
While no extension has been announced, the shuttle program could also help Buffalo Trace evaluate parking capacity and traffic management ahead of future special events and bourbon releases.
How the Buffalo Trace Shuttle Service Works
According to the official Buffalo Trace announcement, visitors can park at the Capital Plaza Hotel Parking Garage at 510 Clinton Street in downtown Frankfort, approximately 1.3 miles from the distillery.
The complimentary service includes:
- Free parking: Register your vehicle using promotional code BT26.
- First departure: 9 a.m. from the parking garage.
- Shuttle frequency: Approximately every 30 minutes.
- Last departure to the distillery: 4:30 p.m.
- Final return shuttle: 5:30 p.m.
- Transportation: Look for the Mint Julep shuttle.
Visitors parking elsewhere in downtown Frankfort can also board at the garage. The service provides an alternative to on-site parking while potentially reducing congestion around the distillery.
Could the Shuttle Service Help With Future Bottle Drops?
Buffalo Trace has recently introduced new ways to manage demand for its highly allocated bourbon.
In September, the distillery launched its first online bottle drawing for Elmer T. Lee 40th Anniversary Single Barrel Bourbon. Selected participants received a 14-day purchase window, eliminating the need for everyone to arrive on the same morning.
The bottle drawing program offers another method of distributing limited releases while the regular daily bottle rotation continues.
Similarly, an offsite shuttle system could provide additional flexibility during major events. Large announced bottle drops can attract substantial crowds, making parking availability, traffic flow and visitor capacity important considerations.
Although Buffalo Trace has not connected the shuttle service to future releases, its October operations could provide useful insight into how offsite transportation performs during busy periods.
Sold-Out Weller Experience Scheduled for November 9–15
Buffalo Trace is also preparing for The Weller Experience: Generations in the Making, scheduled for November 9–15, 2026. The special 90-minute experience is already fully booked.
Guests will explore the history of William Larue Weller through guided tastings, sensory activities and a visit to Warehouse P, where they will learn about the distillery’s wheated bourbon recipe.
The experience also includes the story behind Weller’s famous green ink thumbprint, a special surprise pour and a Weller-themed takeaway.
Importantly, Buffalo Trace states that no special bottles will be available for purchase as part of the experience.
With the event fully booked, the distillery will already have a busy schedule of Weller guests. Adding a major announced bottle drop during the same period could create additional challenges for parking and visitor traffic.
Although the shuttle service is currently listed only for October, Buffalo Trace Daily expects the distillery may continue or extend the program into November, particularly with the sold-out Weller experience approaching. No official announcement has been made regarding November shuttle operations.
Buffalo Trace Daily’s Take
The complimentary shuttle service is a welcome addition for visitors, but it could also serve a larger purpose as Buffalo Trace continues evaluating ways to manage crowds.
The upcoming Weller experience provides another example of the demand for special events at the distillery. If the shuttle program continues into November, it could offer additional insight into whether offsite parking is a practical solution for larger gatherings.
There’s also the anticipated Weller Full Proof bottle drop that never materialized over the summer. While there is no indication that a release is imminent, improved transportation logistics could prove valuable whenever Buffalo Trace decides to host another major announced drop.
For now, we’ll be watching whether the complimentary shuttle service returns in November and whether it becomes a permanent part of Buffalo Trace’s approach to managing visitors and future bourbon releases.
