Is 2025 the Year for Single Oak Project Bourbon?

After years of waiting, bourbon fans have one burning question: Will Buffalo Trace finally release Single Oak Project Bourbon in 2025? While the distillery hasn’t made an official announcement, all signs point to this being the year.

Why 2025?

When Buffalo Trace announced the winning bourbon from its Single Oak Project in 2015, it was clear that fans would have to wait. Crafting the perfect recreation of Barrel #80 meant sourcing the right oak, allowing the staves to season, and then aging the bourbon. With that timeline, 2025 marks the first realistic opportunity for a release.

In the original press release announcing the winning barrel, Buffalo Trace stated:

“Buffalo Trace Distillery is now making plans to start producing the winning formula from Barrel #80 for future batches of Single Oak Bourbon. Only one frustration remains—this can’t happen overnight. The oak must be harvested, staves dried for 12 months, and then the bourbon must be aged for eight years. Mark your calendars for the year 2025!”

But as any bourbon fan knows, Buffalo Trace doesn’t give away secrets easily. While there’s been no official confirmation of a 2025 release, the years of planning—and intense demand—make it seem more likely than not.

Could It Become a Regular Allocated Bottle?

If Single Oak Project Bourbon does return, could it join Buffalo Trace’s lineup of highly sought-after allocated bottles? The distillery already offers daily releases of Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, and E.H. Taylor Small Batch, and a reintroduction of Single Oak Project—even in limited quantities—would undoubtedly cause a frenzy.

Buffalo Trace has already re-released non-winning Single Oak Project barrels more than a dozen times in late 2024 and again in early 2025, selling a significant amount while deliberately holding back some inventory. This strategy keeps the bourbon fresh in collectors’ minds and hints that more Single Oak releases could be coming.

While there’s no guarantee that Single Oak Project will become a permanent offering, it was never designed to be a one-time experiment. The entire initiative was about refining bourbon-making for future releases. With a treasure trove of data on wood grain, entry proof, and barrel selection, Buffalo Trace could be setting the stage to make Single Oak Project a recurring part of its premium rotation.

What to Expect If It Drops

If Buffalo Trace stays true to the Barrel #80 formula, expect a rye bourbon aged in barrels made from the lower portion of the tree, with staves seasoned for 12 months, a #4 char, and an entry proof of 125. The original release was praised for its balance of spice, depth, and complexity—qualities the distillery will undoubtedly aim to replicate.

So, will 2025 finally bring the return of Single Oak Project Bourbon? We don’t have official confirmation yet—but based on everything we know, this year seems like the best bet.

Are you ready to step up your sneaker game while paying homage to your favorite bourbons? As a proud bourbon fan, I’ve discovered the perfect way to combine a love of spirits with a passion for style: designing custom Nike Dunks inspired by iconic labels like Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare.

Nike’s custom Dunk platform allows you to select colors and materials to craft a one-of-a-kind sneaker. Picture this: rich brown leathers reminiscent of oak barrels, deep reds echoing the hue of a fine bourbon pour, and gold accents that bring to mind the elegant bottle labels.

    Buffalo Trace-Inspired Dunks

For my Buffalo Trace-themed Dunks, I went with a deep brown leather base, inspired by the distillery’s historic brick warehouses and barrel-aged spirit. Creamy accents highlight the Buffalo Trace logo’s subtle colors, and splashes of warm amber give the shoe a classic yet standout look. These are kicks that make you think of sipping on a neat pour by the fire.

    Eagle Rare-Inspired Dunks

Meanwhile, the Eagle Rare design stays sharp and sophisticated with a monochromatic palette. I chose a combination of sleek black, clean white, and shades of gray, reflecting the refined and bold character of this ten-year-old bourbon. The minimalistic color scheme keeps things classic yet striking, with elements that evoke the label’s timeless elegance.

    Create Your Own Masterpiece

Run, don’t walk, to the Nike site and start designing your own pair of bourbon-inspired Dunks. Of course, these are just a couple of examples to get your creative juices flowing. With Nike’s customization tool, you can adjust every detail to create something even more spectacular. Will the Single Oak Project Bourbon Drop Two times in November? See The Recent Release Dates and Predictions

A Quick Overview of the Single Oak Project

The Single Oak Project Bourbon is the result of Buffalo Trace Distillery’s ambitious experiment to uncover the perfect bourbon. Starting in 1999, the distillery selected 96 distinct oak trees, turning them into 192 unique barrels. The project meticulously controlled variables like wood grain, tree growth rate, and barrel stave seasoning to create bourbons that showcase the nuanced impact of these elements.

Each bottle is a testament to this exploration, and with the project winding down, demand is only increasing.

    Single Oak Project Release Data

Let’s take a look at the release schedule so far in 2024:

    • June 13, 2024 (Thursday)
    • July 9, 2024 (Tuesday)
    • August 5, 2024 (Monday)
    • August 28, 2024 (Wednesday)
    • September 10, 2024 (Monday)
    • September 23, 2024 (Monday)
    • October 7, 2024 (Monday)
    • October 22, 2024 (Tuesday)
    • November 6, 2024 (Wednesday)

    Analyzing September and October Patterns

Focusing on September and October, we see an emerging trend. In September, both releases were on Mondays, occurring two weeks apart. October followed a similar pattern, with a Monday release followed by a Tuesday drop two weeks later. This rhythm suggests Buffalo Trace favors early to midweek releases, with an approximate two-week interval.

    Predicting a November Release

Based on these patterns, the next release is likely to fall in the week of Monday, November 18, 2024, to Wednesday, November 20, 2024. However, there’s also the possibility that the release could be pushed back to the week of Thanksgiving, November 25-27, 2024. The distillery could be adjusting the schedule, or perhaps this is one of the final releases, meaning a delay—or even no release at all—is a real possibility.

    Price Perspective

Each 375ml bottle of the Single Oak Project Bourbon is priced at $75.00, which translates to $150.00 for a standard 750ml bottle. The premium price reflects the extensive research, precise aging, and the one-of-a-kind profiles resulting from this long-term experiment. For collectors, the uniqueness and quality justify the investment.

    Final Thoughts

The unpredictability surrounding these releases means that while the week of November 18th seems like the best bet, enthusiasts should also keep an eye on the week of Thanksgiving. With a project as unique and experimental as this, flexibility and preparation are key. And given that this could be one of the final releases—or perhaps even the end of the line—being ready is more crucial than ever.

If you love the thrill of the hunt or just want to know what the distillery is sold, this recap is your front-row seat to the bourbon buzz.

Bourbon Lovers Take Note: Price Increases at Buffalo Trace Distillery

Buffalo Trace Distillery, a name synonymous with exceptional quality and heritage in the bourbon world, has recently made headlines with price increases at the distillery’s gift shop on some of its most beloved products. The E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch and Blanton’s Single Barrel bourbons have both seen price hikes, prompting discussions among enthusiasts. Let’s explore these changes in detail and consider their implications for bourbon aficionados.

A Closer Look at E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch

The E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch bourbon has enjoyed a stable price point for many years. From December 31, 2020, until June 30, 2023, the price remained at $43.00. This period of consistency reflected Buffalo Trace’s commitment to providing high-quality bourbon at a reasonable price.

    06/30/23$43.000.00%

However, on December 31, 2023, the price saw its first increase in years, rising to $45.00—a 4.65% increase. This modest hike was followed by a more significant jump on August 1, 2024, when the price reached $51.99, marking a 15.53% increase.

Blanton’s Single Barrel: Stability Then Surge

Similarly, Blanton’s Single Barrel bourbon maintained a stable price of $63.00 from December 31, 2020, through June 30, 2023. This stability underscored Buffalo Trace’s ability to manage costs while continuing to produce top-tier bourbon.

However, like the E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch, Blanton’s Single Barrel experienced a price increase on August 1, 2024, jumping to $69.99—a significant 11.10% increase.

Should Customers Expect Price Increases for W.L. Weller Special Reserve or Eagle Rare?

With the recent price increases for E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch and Blanton’s Single Barrel, bourbon enthusiasts are understandably concerned about potential hikes for other Buffalo Trace products, such as W.L. Weller Special Reserve and Eagle Rare. Here’s a closer look at their historical pricing and what might be on the horizon.

W.L. Weller Special Reserve: Stability Amidst Change

The price of W.L. Weller Special Reserve has remained remarkably consistent over the years. From December 31, 2020, through December 31, 2023, the price has held steady at $30.00.

    DatePrice
    12/31/20$30.00
    06/30/21$30.00
    12/31/21$30.00
    06/30/22$30.00
    12/31/22$30.00
    06/30/23$30.00
    12/31/23$30.00

This consistency suggests that Buffalo Trace has managed to keep production costs and other expenses stable for this product. However, with recent increases in other products, it’s possible that W.L. Weller Special Reserve could see a price adjustment in the future to align with market trends and increased costs.

    Eagle Rare: A Recent Uptick

Eagle Rare has already experienced a price increase. From 2020 to 2022, the price remained at $34.00. However, in 2023, the price rose to $40.00, where it has remained as of August 1, 2024.

    DatePrice
    12/31/20$34.00
    06/30/21$34.00
    12/31/21$34.00
    06/30/22$34.00
    12/31/22$34.00
    06/30/23$34.00
    12/31/23$40.00
    06/30/23$40.00
    08/01/24$40.00

Given this recent increase, it’s less likely that Eagle Rare will see another price hike in the immediate future. However, as with all premium bourbons, future increases can never be entirely ruled out, especially if production costs continue to rise.

    What to Expect

While W.L. Weller Special Reserve has enjoyed stable pricing, the recent trends with other Buffalo Trace products suggest that a price increase could be possible in the near future. Eagle Rare’s recent price adjustment might indicate a period of stability, but long-term trends in the industry could still influence future pricing.

    Conclusion

For bourbon enthusiasts, keeping an eye on market trends and understanding the factors driving price changes is essential. While enjoying these exceptional products, it’s also important to stay informed about potential shifts in the market. Buffalo Trace Distillery continues to offer high-quality bourbons, and even with price increases, the value and craftsmanship behind each bottle remain undeniable.

Stay tuned for updates, and in the meantime, savor the rich flavors and heritage that Buffalo Trace brings to every pour. Cheers!

The Changing Dynamics of Allocated Bourbon Sold at the Buffalo Trace Distillery: A Closer Look

If you’re a bourbon enthusiast, the daily rush to secure your favorite bottle has always been part of the thrill. However, there’s been a noticeable shift in the availability of these coveted spirits since the end of May 2024. Whereas previously, popular labels would sell out by mid-afternoon or even earlier, recent trends show they are now available until closing time at 5 PM. Let’s explore this change with data pulled from BuffaloTraceDaily.com and its implications for bourbon lovers.

Pre-May Frenzy: Bottles Gone Before Noon

Buffalo Trace Distillery has implemented strategic allocation measures for its esteemed whiskey selection, which includes renowned brands such as Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch, and W.L. Weller Special Reserve. Due to these measures, availability of these highly sought-after bottles may vary from day to day at the distillery’s gift shop. To manage this variability, the distillery systematically rotates the availability of these brands on a daily basis, sometimes depleting the allocated supply before the close of business.

Before the end of May, bourbon fans often had to act quickly. Here’s a glimpse of how the scene looked:

    • E.H. Taylor Jr., Small Batch on 03/30: Sold out by 10:24 AM
    • Eagle Rare on 03/28: Sold out by 10:42 AM
    • Blanton’s on 03/29: Sold out by 11:35 AM
    • W.L. Weller Special Reserve on 03/13: Sold out by 12:25 PM

Throughout April and early May, many bottles sold out by mid-afternoon, if not earlier. It wasn’t uncommon for the most popular labels to disappear shortly after the doors opened.

The Shift: Late May to Early June

The tide began to turn towards the end of May:

    • E.H. Taylor Jr., Small Batch on 06/02: Sold out by 1:15 PM
    • Eagle Rare on 05/17: Sold out by 4:56 PM
    • Blanton’s on 05/31: Sold out by 4:59 PM
    • W.L. Weller Special Reserve on 06/01: Sold out by 4:53 PM

By early June, a pattern emerged: daily releases were increasingly available later in the day. While some bottles still sold out earlier, many started to last until closing time.

Post-May Transformation: Bottles Until 5 PM

Since the end of May, the trend has solidified, with daily releases lasting until the store’s closing:

    • E.H. Taylor Jr., Small Batch on 06/14: Lasted until 5:00 PM
    • Eagle Rare on 06/08: Lasted until 4:58 PM
    • Blanton’s on 06/13: Lasted until 5:00 PM
    • W.L. Weller Special Reserve on 06/12: Lasted until 5:00 PM

    This pattern continued into July:

    • E.H. Taylor Jr., Small Batch on 07/03: Lasted until 5:00 PM
    • Eagle Rare on 07/14: Lasted until 4:50 PM
    • Blanton’s on 07/17: Lasted until 4:48 PM
    • W.L. Weller Special Reserve on 07/10: Lasted until 4:59 PM

In recent weeks, nearly every release has continued to be available until the store closes at 5 PM.

    What’s Behind the Change?

It’s unlikely that the initial rush for certain labels has simply subsided or that consumers have merely adjusted their shopping habits to spread out their visits. This leaves us with one compelling explanation: increased supply. The distillery must be stocking larger quantities to meet demand, thereby reducing the urgency for early purchases.

    The Impact on Bourbon Enthusiasts

For many bourbon lovers, this change is a welcome one. It means:

    • Less Pressure: There’s no need to rush to the store first thing in the morning, making it easier for more people to get their favorite bottles.
    • Convenience: The extended availability allows for a more relaxed shopping experience, catering to different schedules.

    Looking Ahead

As we move forward, it will be interesting to see if this trend continues. Will the availability of daily releases remain steady until closing time, or will we see a return to the previous frenzy? Regardless, the current state provides a more accessible and less stressful experience for bourbon aficionados. Stay tuned for more updates found on the “Sold Out” Tracker and enjoy the newfound ease in securing your prized bottle. Cheers to a more relaxed and enjoyable bourbon hunting experience!
